Oculogica, a leader in concussion diagnosis, is proud to announce that its Founder and Scientific Advisor, Dr. Uzma Samadani, has been appointed to the Permanent Council of The Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma and Anaesthesia Care (The G4 Alliance) as the representative from the ThinkFirst Foundation.
The G4 Alliance is committed to advocating for the neglected surgical patient and is driven by a mission to provide a collective voice for increased access to safe, essential, and timely surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anaesthesia care as part of universal health coverage.
The G4 Alliance is comprised of more than 60 organizations working in over 160 countries, united in advocating for the neglected surgical patient.
“I am honored to be joining the G4 Alliance as a member of its Permanent Council,” said Dr. Samadani. “As a neurosurgeon with trauma expertise, I have witnessed firsthand how socioeconomic status and race impact patient treatment and care. The G4 Alliance is committed to achieving universal access to safe surgical, obstetric, trauma, and anaesthesia care for all and I believe this mission is of the utmost importance and urgency.”
In her role on the Permanent Council, Dr. Samadani will focus on creating solutions to reduce inequity in neurotrauma. “ThinkFirst Foundation focuses on preventing injuries and that is a major focus of my efforts at the G4 alliance” said Dr. Samadani. “Access to urgent surgery and rehabilitation care after brain and spinal cord injury should not be dependent on a patient’s race and financial status. My goal is to contribute to reducing these egregious inequities.”
