Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care Clinics Acquire New Eye Tracking Technology to Better Assess Concussion

Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care is the latest clinic in Texas to offer a new test to diagnose concussion, the EyeBOX.

Dr. Alicia Tezel, MD and Chief Medical Officer at Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care discussed the acquisition of the new concussion test during an interview on KABB San Antonio.

“We are excited to offer the EyeBOX concussion diagnostic to our patients. It is the most current technology available, is easy for the patient, and helps us by providing objective information on the patient’s condition. Our goal is to get patients an accurate diagnosis and on to therapy, or back to play, as quickly as possible. EyeBOX helps us do just that.” explains Dr. Alicia Tezel, MD, and Chief Medical Officer at Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care.

Because EyeBOX is not dependent on baseline testing, it helps physicians who may not have the pre-injury, baseline information on a patient to make a diagnosis. Administering the EyeBOX test is easy. Patients place their head on a chinrest and watch a video for less than four minutes. During this time, EyeBOX collects and analyzes over 100,000 data points to generate an individualized assessment, called a BOX Score. This BOX Score is correlated with the absence or presence of concussion.

The EyeBOX is offered at select Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care locations including San Antonio, TX and Irving, TX. For more information on EyeBOX at Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care or to make an appointment, visit www.littlespurspedi.com or call 214-247-6550.
